A note from Mary

A few weeks ago I was performing and lecturing in Russia in conjunction with the Humpty Dumpty Institute and the U.S. Embassy in Moscow.  My band and I arrived in Moscow shortly before the horrific bombing of the Domodedovo Airport.  Fortunately, my crew and I were safe. At each show we expressed our sympathies to the victims of this terrorist act and their families.

In Russia I lectured on “American Values/American Ideals: The Intersection of the U.S. Civil Rights Movement and Motown”.  We did concerts in Nizhny Novgorod, Krasnodar, Sochi, and Moscow. We then traveled to Kiev, Ukraine, under the auspices of U.S. Embassy in Kiev where I opened an exhibition of Supremes gowns in honor of Black History Month!

One of the highlights of the trip was in Moscow where the American Ambassador held a reception at his US American Embassy residence. Unfortunately, he was called away. His lovely wife Marialla hosted the event. We also gave a concert at the residence for all of the American and Russian dignitaries. I am told it was the best ticket in town. Check Google or Youtube to see more of what went on.

    Hi Mary,
Thank you for those interviews. I teach Entrepreneurship to grade 11 students and I played the video from Moscow where you talked about the reason for your “Dare to Dream” program and speech. I also gave them an assignment from your video. The students were amazed on how good you looked. We recapped the next day and one student said to another guy that this lady has no wrinkles and she looks like someone in her fourties -which is true. Thank you for continuing to inspire all those around you.
